What happened?
October 22, 1991, 17-year old Chedell Williams wanted to get tickets at the subway station „Fern Rock“ in Philadelphia, PA. She was accompanied by Zahra Howard; the two young girls were on their way home from school. About 1:50pm two men approached them and one of them demanded Chedell`s earrings. A struggle took place and a shot went off. Chedell Williams was shot and killed. The two men flew to a getaway car, where a third accomplice was waiting. The whole scene took place within a few seconds. Through this crime, a young girl died in a tragic way allegedly killed for her earrings, as those were missing after she had been shot.
No one else was ever charged or arrested for this crime, even though there is substantial evidence that 3 individuals were involved.
Jimmy was arrested for this crime on November 23, 1991, and convicted with capital punishment in October 1992.
Jimmy has previously faced an execution date of January 7, 1999, but fortunately, he received a stay.
